Suave Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-in Conditioner

Suave Keratin Infusion

Winter is officially here. It’s time for sweaters, boots, hats, and…dry, static filled hair? No static for me. Not anymore. My hair is fully moisturized, soft and shiny. But it hasn’t always been that way. It used to be dry and split. It looked dull and bleached out. There were always short, broken pieces sticking up, especially where my part met the hairline. I tried everything. I used professional brand shampoos, conditioners and deep conditioners. They helped a little, but my hair is very fine, and the more moisturizing a product was, the more it would weigh down my hair, making it look limp and dull. Well, except for the short, broken pieces, which would stick straight up, no matter what 😦 .

Then I discovered Suave Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-in Conditioner. Suave makes dupes of professional brand hair care products. This leave-in conditioner is a dupe for a Kerastase product. I’ve never tried the Kerastase version, so I don’t know if works the same, but it doesn’t really matter, because I’m super happy with the Suave version, and it costs only $2.88 at Walmart.

I’ve been using this product for several years now, and over time, it has seriously transformed my hair. It’s soft and shiny, with no fly-aways or static. It’s full of body, and even seems to hold a curl better. Somehow it’s able to moisturize intensely without weighing the hair down.

I have to admit that at first, I didn’t like the idea of putting a conditioner on my hair and not washing it out. But I quickly got over that when I realized it gives me the ability to apply more in the areas I want more moisture, and less in the areas I don’t. After washing and towel drying, I rub a quarter size amount between my hands and apply some in a concentrated manner around my hairline. Then, I apply the rest to the midsection and ends. I wait a minute or two for it to soften the tangles, then comb through.

I use Suave Damage Resist shampoo, which is a dupe for Redken. Damage Resist is a gentle, lightly moisturizing shampoo which I have only been able to find at Family Dollar these days. When they stopped selling it at Walmart I tried Suave Keratin Infusion shampoo, but found it to be too heavy, so I quickly went back to Damage Resist. It really is lovely to spend so little on products that work so well. Thanks Suave! You’re irresistible.

I’m obsessed with this product, and now cannot find it anywhere! I hope it’s not discontinued 😦

I found that a good replacement for it is Redken Extreme Play Safe 450F treatment. It’s more expensive, but I think it’s actually a better product!
